Kristi Tackett-Newburg is the CEO/Founder/Owner of Counseling Connections & Associates, LLC.Kristi is a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner and has been working in the psychology field for approximately 16 years. She specializes in adolescent and adult individual therapy and couples therapy.

Kristi is a passionate and energetic therapist that focuses on helping clients take steps towards making positive, long-lasting changes in their life.  Kristi's goal is to assist clients in living up to their fullest potential by offering a safe therapeutic environment.  She takes an eclectic approach when working with her clients; however, she currently specializes in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy.

Kristi has completed her Level II training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and is actively utilizing this theoretical approach in her practice. EMDR is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on helping people heal symptoms related to disturbing life events and/or trauma. There have been numerous controlled studies demonstrating that EMDR can assist people in healing traumatic memories in a much shorter time-frame than with other forms of psychotherapy. Furthermore, EMDR can be successfully used in conjunction with other forms of psychotherapy. Currently, EMDR is the most researched psychotherapeutic treatment for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. Moreover, EMDR may be efficacious in treating other mental disorders including phobias, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, etc.

Kristi received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Creighton University. She went on to receive her Master of Arts Degree in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University/Illinois School of Professional Psychology in Chicago, IL.Kristi is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Business Psychology/Consulting with an anticipated completion date of December 2017.
